I often struggle with being patient.
Not necessarily the kind of patience it takes waiting in line or driving
through traffic, but the kind where you simply itch to know what the future
holds for you.
I think we all experience a time that asks you
to be patient. Be it 24 hours, several weeks or an entire year. These times
will test you, in ways both big and small, in tiny accomplishments and understated
defeat. Some days you find yourself just begging for answers to come your way. Days
you seek to write the unwritten; mostly out of sheer curiosity or needed
understanding. Days you hope with all your heart to know what’s around the next
corner.
Maybe you’re running towards a dream
that can no longer sit still. Building a career, a family, or relationship.
Journeying from a place you no longer wish to be. Wherever you are, that place
of great wanting and wondering, it requires of you your most sincere self, there lies your challenge and your answer: patience.
Coelho has it right. Our patience for
our path does but one thing most perfectly – it teaches us to pay attention.
I have to believe that the work each of
us is putting in today, the work you put in yesterday and the work you will put
in tomorrow will ask of you patience for the answers you have yet to live.
